The BTECH Inc, number one in the US market manufactures the BVS-S5 System for Stationary Battery Monitoring. The System has been used for over 20 years in the most qualified industries and Utilities worldwide.
1. The purpose achieved by the System is to provide at a central point, predictive diagnostics of possible future Battery failures. The System makes it possible to concretely implement Preventive Maintenance by informing the Manager several months in advance, about the future risks of failure of individual monoblocks.
2. It is an innovative, complete, accurate and reliable System. The Total Diagnostics of the System is based on measurements of Battery Voltage and Current, Ambient Temperature, Individual Element Voltage, Individual Element Impedance and Pilot Element Temperature.
3. The BVS-S5 System is used to monitor stationary batteries of all types (Free Electrolyte, VRLA, Gel, AGM and the NiCd), of all capacities (from a few Ah to 3,000 Ah and beyond). The System is applicable on batteries of any brand and UPS of any manufacturer.
4. The BVS-S5 System, with its predictive diagnostics, enables the Manager to clearly ensure, the near total reliability of stationary batteries and increase the reliability of the entire plant.
The total and detailed visibility of the operating parameters of the individual elements allows the entire battery pack to be exploited until the end of its life. Any hint of an anomaly or a Hazard situation will be detected and highlighted by the System.
5. The BVS-S5 System is centralized and automatic and allows immediate numerical and graphical display of measurements and Alarms. Communication from the Controllers to the central PC , can take place over Ethernet LAN or Telephone Network. The System can notify Alarms via e-mail.
6. In addition to the safety of electrical continuity, the System enables significant maintenance efficiency and economy, eliminating any intervention to perform periodic measurements on batteries and optimizing, thanks to predictive measures, the replacement interventions of high-risk monoblocks. The System is also particularly suitable for managing remote Battery installations.
The Manager is kept informed of the consistency and actual health of all battery installations and can better manage and schedule the replacement of only High Risk monoblocks.
The System S5, has been developed to provide Real Time monitoring and validation of your batteries for both free electrolyte and for VRLA, GEL, AGM and NiCd.
The System applies to any battery from any manufacturer and of any capacity, regardless of the UPS manufacturer.
The technology adopted by the system to measure Impedance has optimal sensitivity to detect anomalies in the bud and degradation of individual elements before they can endanger electrical continuity.
The patented Impedance measurement method provides solid and stable accuracy like no other existing system.
The System is comprehensive, accurate, reliable, and easy to use.
The System monitors the following variables:
The System allows monitoring of up to 520 elements and up to 8 parallel strings. This expandability makes it suitable for monitoring both 48 V Batteries of Telephone exchanges and “mission critical” UPS uninterruptible power supplies.
The System has as its Central Unit software the powerful Application from Btech Inc, BVM (Battery Validation Manager) for optimized management of polling collection of measurements, receipt of alarms and remote notification via e-mail.
The System is equipped with communication interfaces that allow all data to be communicated remotely to a Central PC where the BVM Application Software resides. Communication can be via Modem over a normal telephone line or via LAN.
The System is equipped with MODBUS over TCP protocol for easy integration to existing Supervision systems.
This module has the following functions:
The Controller SCM-600 is equipped with:
This Module performs voltage measurements on individual elements or monoblocks of the Battery. The VM-24i allows monitoring of up to 24 monoblocks from 1.2V up to 12V nominal. Up to 4 pilot battery temperature probes can be connected to the Module terminals. This Module is connected to the SCM-600 via a data BUS cable. Through this cable, the SCM-600 Controller powers the VM-24 Modules connected in series.
Also via this BUS cable, the VM-24 Modules transmit to the SCM-600 the measurements made on the individual elements or monoblocks to which they are connected.
VM-24I MEASUREMENT MODULE – C
This New Module, is identical to the VM-24i Module but the possibility of connecting a Hall effect current transducer from the CT-xxx series has been added.
Through this transducer, the system can measure the holding, charging and discharging current of the battery or each individual string. This transducer can be opened by “clamping” to be easily installed on the Battery current cable on both positive and negative poles, without the need to disconnect the current cable. Thus, the CT-xxx can be installed while the system is running.
