BATTERY GROUND FAULT MONITOR

The BGM-500 is a specialized solution for detecting battery ground faults,regardless of whether the fault is due to leakage of fluid from the battery or an inadvertent connection of a Battery Pole to the chassis at any point.

The BGM-500 is equipped with a Transducer that is connected between the battery frame and a copper bar. The ground wire passes through the current transducer which measures the leakage current.

When the leakage current to ground exceeds the permissible threshold level, The BGM-500 generates an alarm that is visible with an LED on the front of the device and remote through an NC Contact.

The BGM-500 is a stand-alone product that does not necessarily require custom software or programming integration into Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) or into a existing building management.

In addition to the alarm display via an LED on the front panel, the alarm contact can also be connected:

To a Customer’s Supervision system;
To a Controller Contact of the BVS-S5;
To an Alarm Display panel.

Battery ground faults, which are often underestimated, are a very critical and potentially dangerous condition due to the risks of:

Possible exposure of
Maintenance Personnel (unaware of the Risk);
Possible overheating of batteries;
Fire hazard;
Limitation of battery life;
Reduction in capacity.

The device applies to all batteries of any type (Open Vessel, VRLA, NiCad) mounted on chassis or in metal cabinet.
